12:30 PM PT — CBS
#21 UCLA (4–0) at #13 Oregon (3–1)
Location: Autzen Stadium — Eugene, OR
Prediction: Oregon 35–24

In a West Coast clash, expect a hotly contested matchup between familiar foes. UCLA has been a pleasant surprise under first-year head coach Bob Chesney. They are much improved from a year ago and are rolling to start the year. Wayne Knight has been excellent and is leading a great running game. Defensively, they have been able to force turnovers and cause problems for opposing quarterbacks. The Ducks have been asserting themselves since the injury to Dante Moore after a scary hit. Dylan Raiola has stepped in and performed at an incredibly high level and will need to continue that level of play. Oregon’s defense has started to find its stride over the last couple of weeks, which should greatly benefit them in the game. Look for the Ducks to limit the rushing attack of the Bruins and put up a ton of points as they walk away with the win.

12:30 PM PT — FOX
#22 Houston (4–1) at Kansas State (3–1)
Location: Bill Snyder Family Stadium — Manhattan, KS
Prediction: Houston 34–28

Houston is coming into this road game against Kansas State as an underdog, which seems weird when they are the ones who are ranked. The Cougars have experience on offense and a reliable defense. With players such as Makhi Hughes, Amare Thomas, and Conner Weigman, the Cougars can score with anyone. Kansas State is coming off a tough loss to Cincinnati, and I wonder if that is still on their mind. Avery Johnson is the heartbeat of this team; the better he plays, the likelihood of victory goes up as well. Other Wildcats on both sides of the ball will need to step up, and even if they do, Houston is no slouch. With that being said, my pick is the Cougars to win by one score on the road.

4:30 PM PT — ABC
#2 Georgia (5–0) at #6 Alabama (5–0)
Location: Bryant-Denny Stadium — Tuscaloosa, AL
Prediction: Alabama 31–27

In the game of the week, two top-10 teams will clash in Tuscaloosa. This matchup has been a bit of a one-sided rivalry in recent years. The head man for the Bulldogs, Kirby Smart, has particularly struggled in their previous games. Georgia is led by fifth-year quarterback Gunner Stockton, who has a tendency to show up when the moment matters most. He will need to do so as Alabama has been improving on a weekly basis. Their young quarterback, Keelon Russell, has thrust his name into the Heisman conversation with his superb play as of late. The winner of this game will greatly impact the conference championship and playoff picture. This game should come down to the wire, as the Crimson Tide will win at home in front of a raucous crowd.

4:30 PM PT — NBC
#19 USC (5–1) at Penn State (3–2)
Location: Beaver Stadium — University Park, PA
Prediction: USC 35–30

The Trojans look to return to their winning ways as they travel to an intense environment to play against a tough Penn State team. Aside from their loss to Oregon, USC has been explosively offensive and has withstood every punch thrown their way. Jayden Maiava has looked exceptional and looks primed to show why he should be a Heisman candidate. Expect them to have their hands full with Penn State. The Nittany Lions are a much better team at home and have something to prove to the home fans. This matchup depends on whether or not Penn State’s offense can keep up with USC’s. I anticipate this one to be a tight game, with the victory going to the Trojans.

Prediction: Louisiana 42–28

5:00 PM PT — Big Ten Network

Night Slate

7:15 PM PT — ESPN
Kansas (2–2) at #12 Utah (4–0)
Location: Rice-Eccles Stadium — Salt Lake City, UT
Prediction: Utah 38–17

7:30 PM PT — FS1
Hawai’i (1–3) at Arizona State (2–2)
Location: Mountain America Stadium — Tempe, AZ
Prediction: Arizona State 42–20

7:30 PM PT — The CW
#23 Boise State (4–1) at Fresno State (4–1)
Location: Valley Children’s Stadium — Fresno, CA
Prediction: Boise State 31–27

I expect Pac-12 After Dark to be in full effect as two of the top teams in the conference battle it out with potential conference championship implications on the line. The Broncos are led by Dylan Riley, who has rushed for nearly 700 yards this season. Over his last three games, he has scored three rushing touchdowns and has continued to be a major part of the Broncos’ offense. Fresno State will need their electric wide receiver, Josiah Freeman. He has the potential to exploit the Boise State defense, as they allow over 370 yards per game. Whichever team’s star has more of an impact on this game will win. I expect Riley and the Broncos to outscore the Bulldogs in a late-night showdown.
